McPhail – We’re no worse off .. we’ve conducted a number of opinion polls and that shows that the public is in favour of equality with the age of consent.

McPhail – The Young Nationals would expect nothing less than 16.. We’ve signed two international conventions to do with human rights (December 1978).. We will continue to talk to politicians to find someone to introduce a Bill..

Young – Mr Freer withdrew his Bill because support dissipated in the House.. Venn Young’s Bill was lost four years ago ..Robert Muldoon was not prepared to allow any gay rights legislation go before Parliament
