Story about a homosexual named John

05:10

John is in prison, he is a homosexual.. John was a born bachelor .. When he left home he found it hard to come to terms with his condition.. made friends in an amateur dramatics group.. he knew only too well what society thought of homosexuals.. it was like background radiation..

07:20

A growing emptiness .. he wanted the warmth and tenderness of marriage - to love and be loved.. John fell in love with Colin.. they clicked.. they moved in together.. there were tensions .. but there was also love..

08:30

They had been together for more than a year when the landlord gave them notice.. a neighbour complained.. John and Colin broke up .. John became bitter.. casual relationships.. and then into the arms of the law..

09:50

I’ve tried to fit in.. I didn’t ask to be a homosexual.. and yet you’ve made me an outsider.. suicide.. what is there for me..

11:00

Thomas Tallis “If Ye Love Me, Keep My Commandments”

Dialogue

11:50

I am glad that I’m not that Chaplin.. hard to imagine what John was going through.. sexual tendencies are set early.. you’re assuming John had some choice.. did you choose your sexual orientation.. left-handed.. different coloured skin.. what’s sinful.. can’t you see how John grew bitter.. can the community restrain them.. he’ll come out of prison as an outsider.. it’s made the problem worse.. the homosexual is a sinner.. he can help what he does..

16:20

Was John abusing his sexuality.. sex is for procreation.. outside of this, sex becomes a destructive force.. I feel John has been made a victim of his sexuality.. only God sees the heart.. we’ve all sinned in some way or another.. it’s not our place to judge and condemn.. Gods concern for all men..

20:00

Acceptance.. love.. Christian love.. should we have critical acceptance.. promiscuity..

21:30

Let us pray.. [atmosphere]

21:50

Lord, let us pray for sexual sin.. we pray for homosexuals - for a deeper understanding of their problems.. we pray for all those who have closed minds.. suicides.. those who study homosexuality.. those who make and administer laws.. pray that your spirit moves our hearts and minds ..love.. reminding us that we are all sinners..
